
The Phillies have reached out and expressed interest in hiring Don Mattingly, who just left his job as Blue Jays bench coach.
The Phillies happened to have an opening for a bench coach, and their manager, Rob Thomson, is very close to Mattingly from their Yankees days.
Phillies baseball president Dave Dombrowski is a big admirer of Mattingly’s. And Mattingly’s son Preston is the Phillies GM, and he’s in favor, as well. (That’s not a surprise.)
So the ball may be in Mattingly’s court.
