Aditi Rao Hydari’s Gauri & Nainika ensemble makes a case for sculpted silhouettes and polka dots

At the Galeries Lafayette launch in Mumbai, Aditi Rao Hydari wore a black-and-white Gauri & Nainika gown covered in neat, oversized polka dots. Styled by Manisha Melwani, the look featured a strapless bodice cut in a straight neckline with stiff peaks at the sides, and sharply contoured hips that exaggerated the hourglass silhouette. From there, the gown unfurled into a voluminous, floor-sweeping skirt that carried the same constellation of oversized white polka dots on a satiny black.

The actress paired the gown with black satin lace-up ballerina heels from Christian Louboutin, with their ribbon ties wrapping neatly around the ankle. Her jewellery, a mix of diamond and emerald rings and small pearl-and-gold stacked earrings, kept the focus on the sculptural gown. With hair that was tied in a sleek, low ponytail, secured with a polka-dotted scarf to mirror the print of the dress and blush-toned, luminous makeup, Aditi Rao Hydari’s look was complete.

From Vogue’s fashion desk:

“Polka dots are a surefire path to timeless style. Take a cue from Aditi, who’s toyed with both white-on-black and black-on-white in her playful hair tie. Step away from soft, romantic silhouettes and create contrast and structure. Pair a  polka shirt with a polka tie to add playful depth. Channel Diane Keaton’s iconic edge with tailored black trousers, brogues and finish the look with a classic boxy bag or a sleek watch,” says Vogue India fashion associate Divya Balakrishnan.
