Netizens Lash Out At Kajol For Saying Marriage Should Come With Expiry Date ‘Behen Divorce Lele’

Kajol and Twinkle, for the first time, took on the host’s chair in a talk show. However, the show, which they signed on to as a fresh start in their career, became a point of concern after their statements went viral. Earlier, Twinkle Khanna faced netizen rage for calling extramarital affairs ‘raat gayi baat gayi‘. Now, Kajol’s statement on marriage left everyone baffled.

Kajol received backlash for stating that marriage should come with an expiry date

In the latest episode of Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon graced the guest’s couch. During one of the lively segments, Kajol, who is married to Ajay Devgn, shared her belief on marriages and stated that it should come with an expiry date and an option for renewal. 

It was during the ‘This or That’ segment when Twinkle questioned, “Should marriage have an expiry date and a renewal option?” While Kriti, Vicky and Twinkle all disagreed, Kajol supported the idea and moved to the green zone. However, Twinkle added a pun to the moment with her joke that it is a marriage, not a washing machine.

But Kajol, who had a strong belief and a notion, stated that she agreed, as you cannot guarantee that you will marry the right person at the right time. A renewal option makes sense, and if there’s an expiry date, nobody has to suffer for long. She even tried to influence Twinkle to join her in the green zone. 

Soon, netizens started reacting to Kajol’s opinion and took to Reddit to share their opinions. One user wrote, “It’s called divorce, Kajol. Something you want desperately, but your greed and lack of self-respect prevent you from pursuing.” Another one penned, “This show is just them projecting their grievances to the point they want to police others into internalising what they’ve submitted themselves to as the new norm. It’s tragic.” A third netizen commented, “Then divorce your cheating husband’s ass. Don’t stand there, profit off your celebrity status and give gyaan about marriage to others.” A fourth one wrote, “Kajol behen divorce lele itna project karne ke bajaye.”

When Twinkle Khanna and Kajol called infidelity okay in a relationship 

Earlier, Twinkle Khanna stirred controversy during the recent episode, when she argued with Janhvi that love was important. Kajol disagreed, stating that it doesn’t survive without compatibility.  

However, the next question showed the generation divide as Twinkle asked if emotional infidelity is worse than physical infidelity. Janhvi found herself alone as she believed that they both were wrong and physical infidelity is a deal breaker. Twinkle was quick to share her stance and stated that they are in their 50s, while she is in her 30s, and she will get in the circle. She said:

“Raat gayi baat gayi.”

Fans were left in disbelief by the infidelity opinions of famous Bollywood names. One user wrote, “So sad that they’ve been cheated on so much that they’ve accepted it as a part of their ‘happy marriage’.” A second user hoped Janhvi keep maintaining that stance, “I hope JK has the same stand till the end of her life cause her relationship seems solid with Shikhu.” Another commented, “How pathetic that Twinkle and Kajol have had to tell themselves physical infidelity is ok to deal with their husbands cheating on them over the years. Never thought I’d agree with anything Janhvi said.”
