KAKINADA: East Godavari superintendent of police D. Narasimha Kishore has urged youth to form anti-drug groups in their villages to help eradicate narcotics usage from society.

Addressing an awareness programme on women’s safety and drug prevention at Kanchara Line near Godavari Ghat in Dowleswaram on Sunday, the SP said police would extend all support to such initiatives.

He warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in atrocities against women and persons dealing in ganja and other narcotic substances. The SP said efforts would be made to ensure life imprisonment for offenders involved in drug-related crimes.

Narasimha Kishore said accused arrested in ganja-related cases in Dowleswaram had already been sent to jail and there was no possibility of their release.

Dowleswaram circle inspector K. Manga Devi, Shakthi Team members and others attended the programme.
