Gozo will once again welcome veteran water polo to Malta’s sister island, with the second edition of the International Masters Water Polo Tournament set for 27 to 29 November 2026. Experienced players and veteran teams return to the Gozo Aquatic Centre for three days of competition.
The inaugural 2025 edition set a high bar. Montenegro’s Primorac Kotor lifted the 40+ title with an unbeaten run, capped by a tight 7-6 win over Real Canoe in the final. In the 50+ category, Malta’s BYB went the distance without dropping a single match across eight games, underlining how far experience and teamwork carry a side in masters water polo.
The tournament is organised by Barracudas Sports Club, Balluta Young Boys (BYB), Comino Masters and Otters ASC, with support from VisitMalta. All three days will be played at the Gozo Aquatic Centre and its Olympic-size indoor pool. New for this edition, live results from every game will be available on Total Waterpolo, giving players, teams and followers real-time scores throughout the three days.
Male players aged 40 and over are eligible, competing in either the 40+ or 50+ category. Squads can carry up to 15 players, and every team is guaranteed a minimum of six matches. Entry costs €125 per player.
Games follow the latest World Aquatics rules, with each match featuring a 5-minute warm-up, two 12-minute sessions and a 2-minute break in between.
Schedule:
- Day 1, Friday 27 November: 16:00 to 20:00
- Day 2, Saturday 28 November: 09:00 to 19:00
- Day 3, Sunday 29 November: 09:00 to 12:00
