The 49ers finally got some good news amid an offseason that’s seen its fair share of downs.
George Kittle revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday that he’s actually “slightly ahead of schedule” in his rehab from his torn Achilles tendon.
“Everybody that’s working with me is super pumped about where I’m at,” the injured tight end said. “No setbacks.”
Kittle suffered the devastating blow during the Niners’ playoff win over the Eagles on Jan. 11, and at the time, many close to the Pro Bowler believed it would keep him out of multiple games in the 2026 season.

However, Kittle told Pat McAfee he’s now got his eyes on a Week 1 return.
“We’re just going to keep plugging away,” he said, “checking boxes, doing whatever I can to be back out there.”

San Francisco opens its season against the Rams in Australia on Sept. 10. If Kittle does suit up for the contest, it would mean he only had about 240 days of recovery time.
But he seemed to be in great spirits and optimistic about his and the Niners’ future during his chat with McAfee, as he also noted defensive end Nick Bosa (knee) and linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) are making great progress in their respective rehab processes.
“The Niner boys, we are very excited,” Kittle said. “It’s fun.”
“The boys,” he later added, “are buzzing right now.”
