LAS VEGAS – The general managers meetings are underway, just without the Yankees’ general manager on site.
Brian Cashman is not in attendance because “something non-baseball related popped up” that prevented him from being here, a Yankees spokesman said Tuesday. But Cashman is “performing all related functions remotely,” with a handful of his lieutenants in attendance for the annual event that lays the groundwork for business to come this offseason.

Among the members of the Yankees’ front office that have been spotted at the Cosmopolitan, the event headquarters, are assistant GM Mike Fishman, vice president of player development Kevin Reese and director of baseball operations Matt Ferry.
Cashman, who just wrapped up his 28th season as GM, is expected to speak with reporters via Zoom on Wednesday. He last addressed the media a week after the Yankees were eliminated by the Blue Jays in the ALDS.
