Crissy Froyd, who was fired by USA Today for speaking out about Vrabel and Russini’s alleged relationship, recently graced The Howard Eskin Show. In the show, she spoke about the dynamic between NFL media and players and coaches. When asked whether she was hit on by any NFL players, Crissy stated:

“At least 50, I can’t even count. Like I said, I’ve been doing this for like 12 years, so at least 50, including when I was underage. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they didn’t know that.”

In the same interaction, Crissy revealed that despite her being underage, she was approached by many. The former NFL reporter called the experience ‘uncomfortable’ and shared:

“It was obviously very uncomfortable, especially when some of them were players from the NFL when I was about 16. So, I was just the age of consent in multiple states, and I didn’t know what to do because I looked older than I was, and so I just kind of tried to not say anything, you know, kind of like dodge it and just kind of leave the conversation.”

During her appearance on The Howard Eskin Show, Crissy spoke about the corrupt culture between NFL media and players and coaches. She also claimed that female reporters trade “sex for stories.” She claimed that a dozen female reporters have sex with NFL staff and, in one case, a prominent NFL head coach as they cover the team. She also pointed out that Dianna Russini, too, was involved with multiple coaches apart from Mike Vrabel.

Amid the heated controversy between Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini’s scandal, the latter resigned from her position at The Athletic. Amid her resignation, Crissy took to X and criticised Dianna Russini, alleging that there was more to the story than was being shown. She stated that Dianna’s behaviour was the “worst kept secret in the NFL reporting world for a while.”

Soon, Crissy was fired from her job as a reporter for USA Today. A formal statement was issued by USA Today, in which they claimed that Crissy’s statements do not reflect their commitment to professionalism or uphold their principles of ethical conduct. Soon after their statement, Crissy responded stating that she doesn’t regret what she said and stands by it because, according to her, it was all true.

Following USA Today’s statement about Crissy’s firing, the former reporter also issued a statement expressing her gratitude to USA Today SMG for the opportunity. She acknowledged that it was indeed painful for her, given the circumstances that her contract had come to an end.
