Patna To Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

The long-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to begin operations this month, offering a major upgrade for passengers travelling between Patna and New Delhi. Designed to be fast, comfortable, and modern, the train aims to make night journeys much smoother for passengers. They will also get hotel-like facilities, including hot water for bathing and touch-free toilets.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper will have 16 coaches: 11 AC 3-tier, 4 AC 2-tier, and 1 AC 1-tier. Altogether, the train can carry 827 passengers — 611 in AC 3-tier, 188 in AC 2-tier, and 24 in AC 1-tier. More coaches can be added later if needed. Ticket prices are likely to be similar to Rajdhani Express fares.

The first two rakes are almost ready at Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) in Bengaluru. The first rake will be sent for testing on the Patna–Delhi route on December 12, and full services are expected to begin before the New Year.

Vande Bharat sleeper train schedule and speed

The train will operate six days a week. It will leave Patna in the evening and reach Delhi the next morning. In the same way, the evening train from Delhi will arrive in Patna by the following morning. Reportedly, the Delhi-Patna journey will take 11-11.5 hours.

Built for comfort and fast travel, the train will run at 160 km/h and can go up to 180 km/h at its top speed. It can speed up quickly and brake smoothly, allowing it to stop at stations briefly and return to high speed in very little time.

Modern facilities and high speed

The Vande Bharat Sleeper will come with automatic doors, bio-toilets, CCTV cameras, personal reading lights for every berth, and a premium interior design. For safety, it includes an Armour anti-collision system and a strong crash-resistant body.

Lakhs of people travel every day on the Patna–Delhi route. This new train will help passengers save time and travel more comfortably. Many travellers say Vande Bharat trains are already very popular, and the sleeper version will make long trips even easier. Railways officials have also started preparing the ticket booking system on the IRCTC app. This launch will showcase ‘Make in India’ and take Indian Railways to a higher level.
