Jeremy Vine is a British TV and radio presenter, who is set to appear on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh
Jeremy Vine is a household name in British broadcasting – but who is his famous wife?
The 61-year-old is most recognised for hosting his BBC Radio 2 lunchtime show, which blends news, interviews with live guests, consumer affairs and popular music.
Jeremy also fronts Channel 5’s quiz show Eggheads, a role he inherited from Dermot Murnaghan back in 2014.
Back in 2015, he took to the dance floor on the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, paired with professional dancer Karen Hauer. He currently presents Jeremy Vine, a weekday current-affairs programme on Channel 5.
Jeremy is due to appear on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh later today (May 24). The episode will also feature appearances from dancer and choreographer Michael Flatley, actress Kate Fleetwood, horticulturist Camilla Bassett-Smith and drinks expert Andy Clarke.
Ahead of his Love Your Weekend appearance, fans might be intrigued to discover that Jeremy has several well-known relatives and has navigated various personal challenges, reports the Express.
Who is Jeremy Vine’s famous wife?
Jeremy was previously married to American banker Janelle Muntz for seven years, with their marriage ending in 2000. The presenter described the split as “very sad”, explaining that their demanding careers and travel schedules meant they had “seen very little” of one another over three years.
The television favourite tied the knot with Rachel Schofield, a journalist and news presenter, back in 2002 in the picturesque Devon village of Tipton St John. The pair have made their home in Chiswick, London, where they’re raising their two daughters, Martha and Anna, born in 2004 and 2006. Jeremy is also the older sibling of comic and actor Tim Vine.
Rachel forged her broadcasting path at the BBC, kicking off at BBC Radio Newcastle in 1999, while also contributing to BBC Look North. She later progressed to reporting for BBC Radio 4 before making her mark at BBC News. In 2020, Rachel stepped into the spotlight alongside her husband, temporarily co-presenting the Jeremy Vine show for a week, filling in for the usual co-host Storm Huntley.
Since their Devon nuptials, Jeremy and his family regularly return to the area in the summer. Writing in The Guardian, he reflected: “It’s Sidmouth I come back to. After getting married close by, it became our summer place.”
Jeremy Vine’s death threat ordeal
Back in August 2016, Jeremy became embroiled in a frightening road rage incident while cycling through London. A motorist hurled threats and abuse at the broadcaster during the confrontation, which ultimately resulted in legal proceedings.
The driver received a one-month prison sentence for threatening behaviour, driving without reasonable consideration for other road users, and driving without valid road tax.
Jeremy eventually stopped sharing footage of his London cycling journeys following a barrage of online harassment and death threats. “The trolling just got too bad. They had well over 100m views, but in the end the anger they generate has genuinely upset me,” he said.
The presenter revealed that a “regular theme” amongst internet trolls involved wishing to see him “crushed under a truck” – which he described as a “very real danger” facing cyclists.
Jeremy also endured a cycling accident that left him “knocked out cold for a minute or two”.
Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh airs Sundays on ITV1 at 9.30am
