YAMANASHI, Nov 02 (News On Japan) –
JR Tokai has unveiled to the press the interior of its new Linear Chuo Shinkansen test train, the M10, currently undergoing trial runs. To reduce noise, the ceiling is covered with a membrane that also functions as a projection screen displaying scenery and maps.

Since the line will connect Shinagawa and Nagoya in as little as 40 minutes, the seats are fixed at a 15-degree angle and do not recline. In a bid to reduce weight, luggage racks have been largely eliminated, replaced instead with storage space beneath the seats, achieving about a 50 percent weight reduction compared with conventional Shinkansen models.
