Karl-Anthony Towns NBA Finals MVP odds falling off a cliff after lousy Game 3

Karl-Anthony Towns was apparently the biggest loser of Game 3 for the Knicks.

Towns scored just 11 points in 38 minutes with eight rebounds and just one assist, the lowest total he’s had since Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers.

His NBA Finals MVP odds also fell off a cliff, as he was +185 to win Finals MVP after Game 2, but those odds have grown to +550 on FanDuel at the time of writing.

Jalen Brunson remains the favorite, only moving slightly from +100 to +105 across the sports betting market.

Victor Wembanyama leaps up from +390 to second-best at +165 as the Spurs look to even the series on Wednesday night.

A complete disaster outing for the Knicks’ star center, Towns will need to get going for the Knicks to have a chance at winning Game 4 and ultimately close out the series with a championship.

NBA Finals MVP odds after Game 3

Player Odds
Jalen Brunson +105
Victor Wembanyama +165
Karl-Anthony Towns +550
OG Anunoby 27/1
Stephon Castle +8000
Dylan Harper 175/1
De’Aaron Fox 175/1
Odds as of June 9 and via FanDuel.

The Knicks have only lost three games this postseason, but they will need Towns to pose a more serious defensive threat against Wembanyama.

The French phenom got the better of Towns in Game 3, finishing with 32 points on 11-of-18 from the field with eight rebounds and six assists. Nearly all of his points came while rolling to the basket within feet of the rim, with Towns unable to contest.

It will also be on the Knicks’ All-Star duo to get on the same page late in games, as their offense goes way too isolation-heavy with Brunson and becomes stagnant during the most critical moments.

Towns, shockingly, has not scored a single point in the fourth quarter of all three NBA Finals games so far.

Betting on the NBA?

With that being said, Towns’ MVP odds of +550 aren’t a bad value considering that, in order for the Knicks to win, he will need to perform better on both ends.
