The Cardinals will have to bounce back from a brutal Seahawks beatdown without one of their biggest weapons.

Arizona coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Wednesday that second-year receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. underwent an emergency surgery for appendicitis on Monday and is unavailable for the team’s Week 11 matchup with the 49ers.

It is unclear how much time Harrison will miss for the 3-6 Cardinals.

“We’ll see,” Gannon told reporters. “Yeah, that’s life. That’s life in the NFL. It’s our job to put a plan together, get our guys ready to go.”

Harrison, 23, has failed to meet the lofty expectations that came with being the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but is still Arizona’s top receiving weapon.

Harrison has 34 catches for 525 yards and four touchdowns so far this season.

“Everybody’s got a job to do and I’m not doing it at a high enough level at the moment,” Harrison said after a huge drop in a Week 3 loss to San Francisco.

“I think I know what I’m capable of and to go out there and not play to nowhere near my abilities is frustrating. It hurts the team and I need to get better.”

Harrison has shown flashes of the potential he showed while starring at Ohio State, but has been plagued by inconsistency with the franchise headed toward change.

Harrison’s operation comes with the Cardinals currently overhauling their plans at quarterback with Kyler Murray placed on the IR with a lingering injury and his future with the team in doubt.

A source told ESPN.com over the weekend that a “separation is imminent” between Murray and the franchise.

In the interim, the Cardinals have turned to veteran Jacoby Brissett to lead their offense. Brissett has played respectfully, but the Cardinals were completely overmatched in a 44-22 loss in Seattle on Sunday.

Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch will slide up the Cardinals’ depth chart without Harrison and standout tight end Trey McBride will be counted on even more.

The Cardinals take on the division rival 49ers on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET, needing a win to even stay in the periphery of the NFC wild-card race.
