The film is based on the life of special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who has been associated with several high-profile murder and terrorism cases in India. Over the years, he has prosecuted cases linked to the 1993 Bombay bombings, the Gulshan Kumar murder case, the Pramod Mahajan murder case and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Nikam also represented the state during the 26/11 Mumbai attack trial.
This is not the actor’s first collaboration with Maddock Films. He has starred in their hit films Stree and Stree 2, along with Made in China, Rooi and Hum Do Hamara Do. This will also be Rajkummar’s second collaboration with actress Wamiqa Gabbi after their 2025 film Bhool Chuk Maaf. Prahaar will be released theatrically on August 7, 2026.
Besides Prahaar, Maddock Films has another release in August, which is Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha.
The biopic will be released on August 28, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Eetha is inspired by the life of legendary Tamasha artiste Vithabai Narayangaonkar, one of the most celebrated names in Marathi folk theatre. Known for her immense contribution to Tamasha, Vithabai’s journey was filled with artistic success as well as personal hardships. With Eetha, Shraddha is expected to take on one of the most emotionally demanding roles of her career, adding another powerful performance to her filmography.
