New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to destabilise the Narendra Modi government by “creating anarchy” and acting at the behest of foreign forces.
Union minister Piyush Goyal and other BJP leaders cited a media report claiming that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha had said at a Congress Minority Department advisory council meeting on Tuesday that the Modi government would fall within a year.
In a post on X, Goyal said the reported remarks pointed to a “massive conspiracy” involving the Congress, opposition parties and a “toolkit gang”.
“This is no ordinary statement. Rather, it constitutes a grave conspiracy aimed at spreading anarchy in the country,” he said.
He alleged that Gandhi and his associates were trying to “incite violence” after failing to defeat the BJP electorally.
“Their hatred against India runs so deep that they simply cannot bear to witness anything positive happening in the country,” he said.
“The people of this country are discerning. They fully understand the true nature of Rahul Gandhi, the opposition, and the toolkit gang that is working against the national interest. Time and again, the people have responded strongly to these elements. The INDI Alliance’s conspiracy to set India on fire will never succeed,” he added.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said the remarks reflected a “dangerous mindset aimed at destabilising India” and alleged that the Congress had resorted to “politics of anarchy” after electoral defeats.
“Whenever India has strengthened its position on the global stage, its economy has reached new heights and the world has acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, anti-India international forces have launched campaigns to defame the country and the Congress has lent them support,” he said.
He also criticised Gandhi’s campaign efforts during recent state elections.
“Putting India’s institutions in the dock from foreign soil, fuelling anti-national narratives, and prophesying instability in India — this is no coincidence, but part of a calculated ‘toolkit politics’,” he said.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also alleged that Gandhi was seeking to dislodge the government by inciting unrest.
“Leader of Opposition (in the Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi has once again shown audacity. At a meeting yesterday, he said the Modi government will fall within a year. Rahul Gandhi is trying to dislodge the (Modi) government by inciting riots and through anarchy,” he said.
He further alleged that the Congress leader was pursuing a “foreign agenda”.
“People of the country are wise. There is a spiritual consciousness among the people of India. Will you be able to incite riots by provoking the people of India? No, Rahul ji. You have seen what happened in West Bengal and Assam (assembly polls),” he said.
“In India, the Constitution prevails and democracy triumphs. This is the government of the 140 crore people of India. Your foreign masters, including Soros, can’t do any harm to this country,” he added.
The BJP said the government would continue to function with public support.
