Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made a strong impact with just three films to his credit. After his debut film Arjun Reddy with Vijay Deverakonda became a sensational box-office hit despite its bold narrative, Sandeep quickly rose to become one of the most sought-after directors in Tollywood. He went on to make a big statement in Bollywood as well with consecutive blockbusters Kabir Singh and Animal.

Sandeep Reddy’s irreverent attitude and cheeky mannerisms while handling his critics have often drawn comparisons with maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Like RGV, Sandeep never hesitates to express his opinions in public or challenge the norm during media interactions. Interestingly, RGV himself has often praised Sandeep’s craft, conviction, and fearless approach.

Even India’s biggest filmmaker, SS Rajamouli, holds Sandeep Reddy in high regard. During a recent film event, Rajamouli compared him to RGV, saying that such directors come “once in a blue moon.” Taking his praise a step further, Rajamouli reportedly called Sandeep Reddy “RGV ka Baap” (father of RGV) after the release of Animal.

This revelation came from Ram Gopal Varma himself during a recent roundtable discussion with Nagarjuna and Sandeep Reddy as part of the promotions for Shiva 4K.

Rajamouli is said to have been deeply impressed by the way Sandeep defies conventional storytelling norms, especially in the way he crafts his characters and scenes. His bold and instinctive approach to filmmaking, reminiscent of RGV’s early days, has earned him admiration from some of the biggest names in Indian cinema — all within just three films.
