Red EcoSport SUV linked to Delhi Blast found after intense hunt - What police discovered next will shock you

Police have recovered a second car registered to a person arrested in connection with the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, one of the central developments in the massive man‑hunt that followed the explosion.

Delhi Police on Friday evening said the red Ford EcoSport (registration DL 10 CK 0458) was recovered from a farmhouse in Khandawali village after intensifying the search in various directions.

The break came after the Delhi Police and other agencies had gone on the hunt for the car in multiple locations.

“Our search was on after we found inputs that the accused, apart from the (initially) recovered SUV, had used another vehicle – a red EcoSport – during the planning and perpetration,” a senior official cited above said.

The multiple security agencies in the National Capital Region as well as in adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana were asked to be on high alert and to check the specific vehicle at all border check‑posts and police stations.

Home minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the “honour of India will be protected at any cost”, reiterating a message of zero tolerance to terrorism. He had earlier met Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and directed authorities to ensure “each and every culprit” was traced and punished.

As of now, the agencies are working on the inputs from forensic and CCTV evidence to hunt down the larger network behind the blast. The search has thrown up leads to what investigators say could be a “white‑collar terror module” operating in the Faridabad region and having academic as well as organisational links.

The second car’s role in the blast has not been detailed yet, but its recovery is bound to throw up clues into the routes, time and chain of custody of the vehicles used in planning and perpetrating the attack.

The fatal blast had killed at least nine people and injured more than 20 others, according to initial police statements after the blast that took place earlier this month. It has been probed under the anti‑terror law, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Officials have said that the evidence from both the vehicles used in the case will be assessed to establish patterns of movement, registered ownership, parking logs and possible links to persons of interest in bordering states. Many officers have welcomed the recovery of the red EcoSport as a “turning point” in the probe.

The manhunt for the prime accused continues and the public has been asked to inform about the sighting of the vehicle and any other suspicious activity.

Updates from Delhi Police and central agencies are likely to come in the next 24‑48 hours, as they corroborate the evidence and fix the sequence of events leading to the blast, finalise the forensic report, and identify the planning network behind the atrocity.
