Kate Cassidy posed for a number of bikini snaps in Costa Rica but there have been concerns for the influencer as she failed to smile in the images

Kate Cassidy found herself on the receiving end of online trolls as she tried to move on from Liam Payne. The American influencer was dating the former One Direction singer when he tragically plunged to his death in October 2024, aged just 31.

Kate, 27, posed beside a luxury Costa Rican pool for the snaps. She looked stunning in a black bikini. But she appeared to avoid smiling in the snaps, which raised concerns for some of her followers.

And sources close to the star have also raised their concerns. “Her friends are really worried about it because she’s not herself,” an insider said.

Speaking to The Sun, they continued: “She seemed to be doing better after Liam’s death, but recently things have started to spiral again. The worst thing about it all is the comments she gets – it’s really upsetting for her to have people commenting on how much she’s lost.

“Her friends are furious that so-called fans keep going on about it. She knows she has, and it doesn’t help.” And they admitted that she is taking photos just because she knows it is needed for her influencer career. The source said she knows this is a necessity, “even if she’s not smiling on the inside or the outside”.

She is currently travelling with pal Derek Snook, and the source said he has been trying to lift her spirits. They revealed he has been by Kate’s side since the death of Liam and tried to help her get through her grieving period.

While Kate recently admitted she is ready to move on and hinted she is dating again, she has always been open about her love for Liam, saying she will always hold a place in her heart for the singer.

She recently shared a TikTok clip of a man carrying her. Kate captioned it: “I love having a crush”, and then teased on the video: “When you know you know.”

It came after she opened up about dating again. But she also said: “I do know that I loved being in love. I want to have kids one day, I want to have a family and I know Liam would want that for me and if the roles were reversed I would want him to be happy and fall in love again.”

She went on: “I will always love Liam and that will never change no matter who I meet and who comes into my life. I am going to think about Liam on my wedding day, I am going to think about him everyday for the rest of my life and that goes without saying.”

She also recently said nobody could hold a candle to the “f*****g hot, funny, kind and generous” Liam in a heartbreaking message. At the time, she said: “I compare literally everyone to my late partner, for anybody that’s new here I lost my partner a year and a half and ago and he kind of hit every single box on the check list.”
