St. John’s joined the recruitment of four-star prospect Adam Oumiddoch late.

Rick Pitino, general manager Matt Abdelmassih and Co. made up for that by making it clear how much they valued him, prioritizing the high-scoring guard from Overtime Elite.

“They showed a ton of effort of how badly they really wanted me,” Oumiddoch told The Post. “I was one of the only [high school players] — it was me and someone else in the country — they recruited. As soon as I came on my visit on campus, I felt like Coach Pitino loved me and I loved him back. He was like, ‘I want this kid.’ He made it known. Compared to any other school, I felt like I was really wanted to be there.”

The 6-foot-5 guard, a consensus top-50 prospect in the country, made his decision on Wednesday afternoon during an early signing period announcement at Overtime Elite, picking St. John’s over Villanova, Illinois, LSU and Oregon. He became the first member of Pitino’s 2026 recruiting class. It came down to St. John’s and Villanova, according to Oumiddoch, and he went with Pitino’s program over new coach Kevin Willard’s.
