The storm, which formed late last night, is showing a consolidated cloud system over the eastern Philippine Sea and is moving steadily westward. Forecast models indicate that by November 4th, it will likely cross the central Philippines, possibly striking Cebu Island, which suffered major earthquake damage in late September.

After crossing the islands, Kalmaegi is expected to strengthen further over the South China Sea, reaching maximum sustained winds of around 40 meters per second by November 7th as it approaches Vietnam. Meteorologists note that this year has seen an unusually high number of typhoons developing around the Philippines and moving toward Vietnam and Hainan.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert for updated weather reports.
