
Aaron Glenn should be paying attention to the Giants’ decision this week to fire coach Brian Daboll.
It was another reminder that having a rookie quarterback does not provide job security. The Jets have a major quarterback decision to make this offseason after acquiring three first-round picks in their blockbuster trades last week. Some NFL thinkers have suggested the Jets should wait until 2027 to draft their quarterback because that class might be stronger.
If I’m Glenn, I am drafting one sooner rather than later. It is a bad formula for a coach on the hot seat to draft a quarterback. The only other coach fired this season was Brian Callahan, who selected Cam Ward No. 1 overall this year. That did not save him, just as Jaxson Dart could not save Daboll.
