George Kyzymenko, who is widely known as Marta Kostyuk’s husband, is five years older than her. According to a report by Cosmopolitan, when Marta was four, she began training in the same Kyiv tennis club where Kyiv practised. At the time, he was nine years old. George doesn’t have much of an online presence. Based on reports, it can be said that just like Marta, her husband also belongs to the same tennis world.

Marta Kostyuk and George Kyzymenko’s low-key love story

Both Marta and George prefer to keep their personal life private. The couple met in their childhood but went their separate ways when George went to the US to study, and Marta began playing professionally. The duo reconnected in 2022. Five months later, in April 2023, George proposed to his ladylove, Marta. On April 15, 2023, Marta took to her Instagram handle and shared a love-filled selfie of her with George. In the snap, she was seen flaunting her engagement ring. In an interview with Vogue, Marta opened up about their love story. She was quoted as saying:

“We were practising at the same tennis club in Kyiv when we were kids, but eventually he went to the US to study and I started playing professionally. We weren’t really in contact, but when I went back to Ukraine in 2022 he called me for a date, and, yeah—that was it. Five months later, he proposed.”

In the same interview, Marta recounted how George popped the question. The Ukrainian tennis star shared that one morning, she and George woke up together, and it was George who suggested going to watch the sunrise. Marta highlighted that it was a bit weird as George prefers to sleep in. Since she had just returned to the US and was suffering from jet lag, she agreed to go out. They went to a beautiful spot in Kyiv from where they could see the whole city. Marta was filming a video, and when she turned back, George was seen kneeling down and was proposing to her. She was quoted as saying:

“We just woke up together, and he was like, ‘Let’s go watch the sunrise.’ It was very weird because usually he likes to sleep in, but I had just come back from the US and was so jetlagged I was barely sleeping, so I was like, ‘Okay—let’s go.’ It was really beautiful—we went to this place in Kyiv where you can really see the whole city, and I was recording something on video, and as I turned around, he was there on his knee.”

On November 1, 2023, Marta and George tied the knot in Cyprus. The bride and the groom wore an ensemble by Wilson, a sporting goods company. Wilson’s Joelle Michaeloff collaborated with Marta to create a one-of-a-kind gown. Marta’s wedding dress reflected her love and passion for the sport. This dress later also inspired her Wimbledon outfit and Wilson’s The Marta Dress.
