وأفادت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية بأن مركز الزلزال كان على بعد نحو (48) كيلومترًا شمال غرب منطقة بانتي ماكاسار, وعلى عمق (96) كيلومترًا.
ولم ترد أنباء عن وقوع خسائر بشرية أو أضرار مادية جراء الزلزال، فيما لم تصدر أي تحذيرات من احتمال حدوث موجات تسونامي.
