ووفقًا لبيان صادر عن وزارة المناجم بالكونغو اليوم، أن الحادث وقع في مواقع تعدين روبايا، المعروفة باحتوائها على الكولتان، في مقاطعة كيفو الشمالية، إثر هطول أمطار غزيرة غير مسبوقة.
وبحسب الحصيلة الأولية، فقد أكثر من 200 شخص حياتهم، بينهم نحو 70 قاصرًا.
وأشار البيان إلى أن منطقة تعدين روبايا تخضع حاليًا لسيطرة حركة 23 مارس المتمردة، ما يجعل عمليات الإنقاذ بالغة الصعوبة.
