جاء ذلك إثر ضربة جوية أمريكية ليلية على قارب يشتبه في أنه يستخدم لتهريب المخدرات تديره عصابة فنزويلية.

وقال هيغسيث على إكس “كان على متن القارب ستة تجار مخدرات ذكور أثناء الهجوم الذي نفّذ في المياه الدولية، وكان أول هجوم ليلي. قتِل جميع الإرهابيين الستة”.

كان أكد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، أنّ الجيش الأمريكي نفّذ ضربة على “غواصة تنقل مخدرات” في منطقة البحر الكاريبي.
وأشار إلى أنّ الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو عرض تقديم تنازلات كبيرة لتخفيف حدة التوترات بين البلدين.
