The Border Security Force (BSF) said on Sunday that some Pakistan-backed terrorist launchpads are still active along the Line of Control (LoC), even though many were destroyed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during Operation Sindoor. BSF Inspector General Ashok Yadav said, “Several launchpads were destroyed, but some are still active and terrorists are present there.” He added that Pakistan often tries to push terrorists across the border before winter sets in. “The visibility is low these days, but we have modern surveillance tools and keep a close watch on sensitive areas. Our aim is to stop every infiltration attempt,” he said.

This statement came a day after senior BSF officials revealed that more than 70 terror launchpads were moved deeper inside Pakistan after Operation Sindoor. BSF DIG Vikram Kunwar said, “After many launchpads near the border were destroyed, Pakistan shifted them to deeper areas. Around 12 launchpads are now operating from the Sialkot and Zaffarwal regions, which are not right on the border.

“In the same way, about 60 more launchpads are active in other areas farther from the border,” he added.

“During Operation Sindoor, the Army and Border Security Force destroyed numerous launching pads and several forward locations of Pakistan. Some action has been taken to address the destroyed launching pads, which were highly vulnerable. However, many launching pads along the LoC are still intact, and some terrorists continue to be present there… We strive to thwart any infiltration attempts… Operation Sindoor is not over yet, and any action by Pakistan will be met with a befitting response…”

Speaking at an event in Srinagar, Ashok Yadav said that around 100 to 120 terrorists are believed to be waiting at these launchpads. The number keeps changing because they look for chances to cross over when the weather is bad and visibility is low. He said, “Pakistan always tries to send terrorists before winter. Our job is to stop every attempt.” He explained that the BSF and the Army are using modern surveillance systems to watch the LoC closely, especially in sensitive areas like Bandipora and Kupwara.

Yadav also said that two infiltration attempts have already been stopped in 2025. He noted that heavy snowfall soon blocks movement for almost six months, making this period crucial for security forces.

He added that every challenge teaches the forces something new and helps them strengthen their control with better technology and joint patrolling. As the winter snow approaches and the chances for infiltration become fewer, the BSF is focused on preventing any breach along the 740-km LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
