Muskegon (Mich.) four-star EDGE Recarder Kitchen has committed to Michigan, he announced on Sunday.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder is opting to stay closer to home, choosing the Wolverines over a loaded offer list that also includes the likes of Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC and Tennessee.

Kitchen is the No. 126 overall prospect and No. 19 EDGE in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 junior in Michigan.

Sherrone Moore and the U-M staff have reeled in a big-time early pledge from one of the top pass-rushers in the cycle. Kitchen began trending heavily toward Ann Arbor in October.

“We went to a lot of colleges and, when we got there, it was different,” Kitchen told The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell in September. “Everybody was huge. They were really hitting out there, really putting in work and it was just different.”

With Kitchen now in the mix, Michigan has four commits in its 2027 recruiting class.

Back in the summer, Moore and Co. worked quick to get a QB in the class and Hingham (Mass.) Tabor Academy four-star Peter Bourque fit the bill. He pledged to the Maize and Blue in August and is now the No. 90 overall prospect and No. 8 QB in the cycle.

“They were recruiting me last June before the coaching change at offensive coordinator,” Bourque told Rivals’ Chad Simmons upon committing. “When coach Chip Lindsey got the job, he started recruiting me hard. Since the offer, they’ve constantly checked in — coach Lindsey with me and my parents, coach Moore too. It was good to know they cared and wanted me.”
