Kelvin Fletcher’s wife Liz has taken to her Instagram page to give an updated about their farm after it caught fire. The mum-of-four shared a clip in a barn surrounded by their closest friends and family as they watched the series three premiere of Fletcher’s Family Farm.

The barn was decked out with tables and chairs as well as a big screen so they could all watch it together. Hay bales were pushed to the side for the special event as they all gathered together.

Over the top of the video, Liz wrote: “11:30 Fletcher’s on the Farm. We have the crew here all ready for the first ep!” The new series comes as the family were forced to move out of the farm due to a fire.

During the first episode of the new series of Fletcher’s Family Farm, which aired Sunday morning, Kelvin and Liz show viewers the damage done to their home after a fire broke out while they were on holiday.

The damage was so severe that the Fletchers were unable to live there and were forced to leave temporarily and live elsewhere. The programme shows Liz and Kelvin looking emotional as they surveyed their damaged possessions, with Kelvin admitting that all of his clothes had been destroyed in the fire.

Explaining what had happened, the former soap star said: “The way the year has got off to a busy start, but it hasn’t all been plain sailing. While the animals have been thriving, at the end of last year, an unexpected and devastating disaster hit our farmhouse.

“The fire we think has started around there, and then it’s honestly gone up through the roof, and the roof’s completely gone.”

He added: “Our farmhouse has been standing for over 200 years, surrounded by the rolling hills of Cheshire and the Peak District National Park.

“Since moving in four years ago, we’ve restored it to a loving family home at the heart of our farm. But sadly, at the end of last year, we had a setback that cost us our home.”

He explained that the family were away on holiday when they got a call from their neighbour telling them about the blaze. The fire brigade were able to arrive to the house in eight minutes but the fire had been going for several hours by then.

The smoke damage had affected the whole farmhouse which meant that the Fletchers couldn’t live in any part of it. So they could still tend to the farm and the animals, Liz and Kelvin rented a house nearby.

The synopsis for this week’s episode reads, “Return of the documentary following Kelvin Fletcher and his family, who have reached their fourth year of farming.

“Lambing gets underway as spring approaches, while a new bull arrives to help the Fletchers grow their herd of Lincoln Reds.

“Kelvin decides that it’s time to try his hand at arable farming, while he and Liz have to deal with a fire in their farmhouse.”
