New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the schedule for both sessions of JEE Main 2026 today, October 19. According to the notification, the JEE Main exam will be conducted in two phases: the first phase in January 2026 and the second phase in April 2026.

Dates for Session I and Session 2

The first session will be held between January 21 and 30, 2026, and the second session will be held between April 1 and 10, 2026.

“The National Testing Agency will be conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2026 in two sessions, Session-I in January 2026 and Session-2 in April 2026,” NTA, in an official statement, said.

Applications to begin in October

The application process for the first session will begin in October 2025. Candidates will be able to register by visiting the NTA’s official website, jeemain.nta.ac.in. The application window for the second session will open in the last week of January 2026.

The exam has two papers

Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E. / B. Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and Institutions / Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country.

Session 1 and Session 2 of JEE Main 2026?

The examination will take place in two sessions: The first session will reportedly be held from 9 AM to 12 PM, and the second session will reportedly be held from 3 PM to 6 PM. A candidate need not appear in both sessions. However, if a candidate appears in more than one session, then his/her best of the JEE (Main) – 2025 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/ Ranking.
