The heroes and zeros of the Jets’ 13-6 loss to the Panthers on Sunday:
Hero
Panthers CB Jaycee Horn was the best player in the game on either side of the ball. He made a diving, one-handed INT of Jets backup QB Tyrod Taylor just when it looked like Taylor was providing a spark to the offense. Horn then forced his way in front of Jets WR Josh Reynolds and picked off Taylor again late in the fourth quarter,
Unsung Hero
Panthers WR Xavier Legette caught a game-high nine passes for 92 yards and the game’s only TD when it was Carolina’s Tetairoa McMillan who was the WR the Jets were most concerned about coming into the game.
Zero
Jets QB Justin Fields was awful for a second week in a row, going 6-of-12 passing for 46 yards in the first half and being sacked three times before mercifully being benched in favor of Taylor.
Key Stat
25 Net passing yards Fields has in the past six quarters — all of last week’s loss to Denver and in the first half Sunday.
Quote of the Day
“Offensively, we have a lot of work to do, and that speaks for itself.’’
— Jets head coach Aaron Glenn about his team’s offense, which hasn’t scored a TD in the past two games
