Archival craftsmanship took centre stage as Alia Bhatt pulled out veteran couturier Ritu Kumar‘s classic for the festive season for Dhanteras celebrations. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, she paired it with a Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas necklace and kada, and a maang tikka from Sanzany Jewels.

Crafted by the visionary who helped shape Indian couture, it’s cut in rose-gold silk with a subtle metallic sheen. The drape showcased meticulous handwork across the borders and pallu, including delicate silver tikki embroidery and fine resham detailing, that caught the light softly. The geometric buta motifs and lattice on the pallu were completed with zardozi work. Complemented by a structured, sweetheart-neckline blouse and a diaphanous embroidered jacket, the look builds volume and texture through layering.

The jewellery selection included a wide choker and kada that extended the gleam at the neckline and wrist, their craftsmanship echoing the sari’s artisanal detailing.

Her beauty look stayed understated with Alia Bhatt’s hair parted sleekly down the middle and makeup that focused on luminous skin with softly contoured cheeks, sheen on the lids and peachy lips.

From Vogue’s fashion desk:

“This tone-on-tone champagne look is the perfect amount of festive glamour without putting on too much. The polki necklace works, so does the maang tikka. The only thing I would add to this look would be a velvet potli embroidered with pearls and stone, and chrome manicure to add a little bit more to the outfit,” says Vogue India fashion associate Manglien Gangte.
