The actual reason for their breakup was never disclosed. A report by DNA stated that Simbu, in an interview with Filmibeat, expressed his wish to marry Hansika, when they were dating. He said that they would marry each other with blessings from their parents, and if that happened, they would be very happy like Ajith and Shalini. STR Simbu reportedly said:

“With my parents permission, I will marry Hansika Motwani and we both will lead a happy life like Ajith and Shalini.”

A report by Filmibeat claimed that there were speculations about STR Simbu spending Rs. 6 crore on Hansika Motwani during their dating. There are certain issues that cannot be discussed. So, we both decided not to talk openly about it.”
