Tim Curry recently opened up about the stroke he suffered in 2012. The actor, known for his iconic roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue, Annie, and Home Alone 2, gave an interview where he shared the details about that fateful day. During his conversation, Tim also mentioned that his mother was scared of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim said his mother believed his role would change him, and later, ‘I thought your head was gonna grow too big.’ 

Who is Tim Curry? 

Tim Curry, born as Timothy James Curry, is an English actor and singer. He rose to stardom as ‘Dr. Frank-N-Furter’ in the musical film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curry’s first role was as part of the original London cast of the musical Hair, where he met Richard O’Brien, who also wrote Curry’s role of ‘Dr. Frank-N-Furter’ in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curry’s other stage work includes Amadeus, The Pirates of Penzance, King Arthur, and Spamalot. He received three Tony Award nominations and two Laurence Olivier Award nominations for his theater work. 


Curry received further acclaim for his onscreen roles, including Rooster Hannigan in Annie, Darkness in Legend, Wadsworth in Clue, Pennywise in the miniseries It, the Concierge in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island. His other notable film appearances include The Worst Witch, The Hunt for Red October, The Three Musketeers, Congo, Charlie’s Angels, Scary Movie 2, and Kinsey. Curry has also released three albums as a singer. Curry’s memoir titled, Vagabond was released on October 14, 2025. In an Interview related to his memoir, Tim talked about the origin of the title, to which he responded, 

“It comes from the 17th and 18th centuries, actors were regarded as vagabonds, and sort of criminals, and because I’ve always moved around so much.”

Tim Curry shared of being down with a stroke

In 2012, Tim suffered a stroke, and he opened up that he had no idea anything was wrong until a masseuse suggested he go to the hospital. He said that it was so strange, and he was actually having a massage, and the guy who was massaging him said,

“I’m worried about you. I think we should call a doctor.’ I felt fine. I had no symptoms I was aware of. I wasn’t in pain.”

Curry further opened up, and he found out that he had suffered a stroke after being admitted to the hospital. He also remembered how his father suffered a fatal stroke when he was 10. Curry had brain surgery and rehabilitation. “I had to learn how to speak again. That was very weird. I hated not being able to speak.” In addition, the left side of his face became paralyzed. He said that his face went sideways.
