It’s the festival of lights and the best time to pause, reflect and celebrate the warmth and hope that brightens up our lives. Today, as we celebrate Diwali with renewed energy, togetherness and happiness, it is easy to forget that a few years ago, things were very different. During the pandemic in 2020-2021, uncertainty and isolation loomed over us, and sudden changes in our routines and lifestyles made it challenging for many to stay positive.
At that time, Filmfare urged celebrities to share and appreciate the Guiding Lights in their lives that made things easier for them.

Joining us to spread the cheer were actors Bhumi Pednekar, Malavika Mohanan, Rituparna Sengupta and Jassie Gill. They shared their own unique stories of hope, resilience and the guiding lights that kept them grounded. From spending time with family to finding solace in music, here’s what shone bright for these stars in the dark times.

Watch what they shared with us back then:

Bhumi Pednekar spoke to us about her association with the children of the Abhydaya Ashram and how they became a source of joy and inspiration.

Music heals, and during the times of social distancing, it became a source of companionship for many. Jassie Gill, too, found his guiding light in the notes and chords of this universal art, and he shared his story with us.

Family is the eternal guiding light in all forms of darkness. Finding solace and peace in her loved ones, actor Rituparna Sengupta spent her lockdown reconnecting with her children. What started with a simple dinner together converted into conversations, stories and memories.

The COVID-19 lockdown also gave us the time to indulge in new things and hobbies with the people we love. Finding the perfect companion to spend time with, while also learning something new, was Malavika Mohanan’s guiding light.
