Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs theatrics weren’t limited to touchdown passes in Sunday’s home win against the Raiders.
With Kansas City driving early in the second quarter on a 4th and one, the star quarterback lined up under center and appeared to try to lure Las Vegas offsides, hoping to secure a fresh set of downs.
When the Raiders’ defense remained in place, Mahomes vented, “This f–king never f–king works,” while raising his arms toward the sideline, seemingly signaling a play won’t get off.

That’s when the three-time Super Bowl champ pulled a rabbit out of his helmet by running a play, with running back Kareem Hunt carrying the ball for the first down — stunning the booth calling the game.
“Oh, there they go!” CBS play-by-play caller Jim Nantz exclaimed on the broadcast, while a shocked Tony Romo responded, “He was faking it, he got ya!”
The Chiefs dominated from start to finish on Sunday, blanking the AFC West rival Raiders, 31-0.
Mahomes went 26-of-35 for 286 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions before backup quarterback Gardner Minshew entered late in the second half.
Shortly after the Chiefs sealed their fourth win of the season, Mahomes was asked about the play in question and offered a cheeky response regarding his on-field performance.

“I think it comes from my State Farm commercials,” the 30-year-old said, according to Sports Illustrated.
Mahomes went on to explain that offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was the real mastermind of the play.
“We had talked about doing the hard count and trying to draw the teams offsides, and I can’t remember who I watched do it a couple years ago, and they had said that. So I was like, I’m gonna use that as part of my acting to try to get the defense just to relax a little bit,” he said. “At the end of the day, we’ve just got to go get it. I thought the offensive line did a great job of driving up the ball, and then Kareem in those situations is money.”
