West Ham 0-2 Brentford: Abject Hammers beaten at home

West Ham turned in a dreadful and unorganised performance at a sparsely attended London Stadium as Brentford took the points.

Keith Andrews’ visitors were entirely dominant throughout as Nuno Espirito Santo’s first home game in charge of the Hammers was abject.

The hosts were run ragged by Brentford who had an incredible 15 shots in the first half alone – to West Ham’s three.

They only managed to score one as Igor Thiago bundled in after a simple straight ball was not dealt with by the home side.

Thiago thought he had made it two in first-half stoppage time when he stylishly clipped in but a VAR review ruled it out for offside.

West Ham were booed off, and Nuno changed to a back three at half time and made three substitutions.

But it had no real impact on the shape of the game, Brentford dominating as Kevin Schade hit the bar with a free header.

Plenty of Hammers fans left early as Brentford saw out a win on the road that sends them up to 13th in the table, with West Ham 19th.

And Brentford finally got a deserved second in added time whhen sub Mathias Jensen rifled in.
