Repsol to make MotoGP return in 2026

MotoGP has confirmed the return of the Repsol brand after the lubricant supplier ended its Honda partnership at the end of the 2024 campaign.

Repsol will become the official lubricant supplier to Moto2 and Moto3 next year, as well as serving as a title sponsor at a grand prix and enjoying prominent trackside branding throughout 2026.

This comes after Autosport reported earlier this month that Repsol’s return was expected after just one season out, following its 29-year partnership with the factory Honda squad.

Dan Rossomondo, chief commercial officer of MotoGP rights holder Dorna, said: “Fans who already love MotoGP will know Repsol from its reputation in the sport for excellence and success, so we’re proud to see Repsol return.

“We know that as a lubricant supplier to Moto2 and Moto3, the riders and teams will be supplied with top-quality technology, and it is great news to see the brand take title sponsorship of a grand prix and put their name trackside.

“As MotoGP continues its trajectory of impressive growth, there is no better time to welcome Repsol as an official partner and write a new chapter together.”

Although Repsol enjoyed a highly successful partnership with Honda, one that spread across four decades with 15 world titles, it had a low-profile end given it had already lost visibility after Marc Marquez joined Gresini Ducati.

Nevertheless, its return marks a new era for the Spanish brand and its director Clara Velasco said: “This new partnership with MotoGP represents a significant step in our global growth strategy.

“We are excited to return to the sport and to be able to demonstrate the quality and performance of our lubricants in such a demanding environment.

“This agreement allows us to continue innovating and improving our products to offer the best to our customers.”
