Crown Perth to clamp down on electronic gaming machines
Racing and Gaming minister Paul Papalia has just announced new restrictions on people playing on the electronic gaming machines at Crown Perth casino.
From December, anyone who wants to play on the machines will have to be registered with a valid playing card. The cards have a weekly money limit of $300 and a daily time limit of 12 hours, with mandatory breaks every three hours.
Customers can also set their own money and time limits if they prefer.
The changes address several of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Perth Casino in 2022.
The report found Crown had facilitated money laundering, failed to investigate suspicions of money laundering, permitted junkets with links to criminals to operate at the casino and failed to minimise gambling-related harm caused by electronic gaming machines.
