Tom Parker’s The Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran had opened up on the emotional vow he made to his pal in the weeks before his death in 2022 at the age of just 33

The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran has revealed the touching promise he made to bandmate Tom Parker before his tragic death. The world of music was left devastated when Tom died in 2022 aged just 33.

The musician died from a brain tumour. Almost five years ago Tom first revealed his incurable diagnosis. He was diagnosed with grade IV glioblastoma and died on March 30 2022.

Now, Siva has confessed he made a promise to his pal in the weeks before his passing. The 36-year-old had been a supportive friend to Tom prior to his death and explained how much the late musician loved his family.

“He deeply loved his family and community, and his fans,” Siva told The Sun as he explained how Tom was passionate about raising awareness of his condition. “Part of his legacy had always been talking about his brain tumour and keeping the conversation going.”

Opening up on his promise to Tom, Siva added: “I said, ‘listen, I got this. We’ve all got this. We’re going to do what we can to keep your story moving forward, even if you can’t.’”

Calling his bandmate a “brother to me”, Siva reaffirmed his vow. He reiterated that he will carry on Tom’s message to ensure he doesn’t get forgetting.

At the time of Tom’s death, he left behind his wife Kelsey Parker and their two kids, Aurelia and Bodhi. As part of Siva’s promise, he has worked with private cancer car provide GenesisCare. And he admits he is blown away with they ambition.

In May, Tom’s widow Kelsey also shared the importance of keeping her late husband’s memory alive. Despite starting a new life with partner Will Lindsay, she confirmed that she will always continue Tom’s legacy.

Since his death, an annual charity football match has been set up in his honour. It has grown into a heartfelt legacy event and a celebration of the singer’s life.

It is also a vital fundraiser for brain tumour awareness and support, with proceeds going to Ahead of the Game, the charity that supported Tom and his family throughout his battle with the illness.

Before this year’s event, Kelsey told of her gratitude to those involved, saying: “To raise awareness for brain tumours and vital funds for Ahead of The Game is so important to me and all my family.

“We’re so happy to be able to do this again for the third year running. The support has once again been fantastic.
