Is Robbie Williams being lined up to present Strictly Come Dancing after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman quit? Fans are hoping so after he posted a teaser on X
Robbie Williams has teased that he’s next in line to host Strictly Come Dancing after longtime presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they were quitting the BBC show today.
The 51-year-old Let Me Entertain You singer took to X to tell his 2.3 million followers: “Just got a rather fancy phone call about a very glittery dance floor job. Apparently, sequins and tuxedos might be in my future. Stay tuned,” followed by a wink face emoji.
And fans are here for it, with many hoping it’s true. One wrote in the comments: “Strictly? You would definitely ACE that and improve my weekend TV viewing.” “Is that why Tess and Claudia are leaving?” a second asked.
A third fan wrote: “Camp as Christmas…!!! That would be right up your street Robbie.” A fourth posted: “You tease!! Please let this be true x.” A fifth chimed in: “Only time I’d watch it lol!”
Suggesting he could be a presenting double act with his wife Ayda, a sixth wrote: “That would be amazing!!! You and Ayda would be perfect! Please please please do this even if you were joking.” Though not everyone was as hopeful, with another joking: “On the wind up again my lovely?”

Tess and Claudia announced the shock news they were leaving Strictly this morning – meaning their last show will be when the final of the current series airs on Saturday, December 20.
It’s been 21 years with 56-year-old Tess at the helm. Her former co-host was the late great Bruce Forsyth, who died in 2017 at the age of 89. Claudia, 53, who formerly presented Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, stepped in in 2014 and has been Tess’ co-host for the past 11 years.
Revealing their decision, the famous duo appeared together in a video, which they posted on their social media pages, as they said they wanted to “pass the baton” on to new presenters.
In the video, Claudia began with: “Hi it’s Claud and Tess. There have been some rumblings and we want you to hear this from us…”
Tess cut in: “Yeah we have news. After 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have decided the time is right to step aside and pass on the baton…” “The very sparkly baton…” Claudia continued, before she turned to Tess and said: “You’ve been here since the beginning…”
Tess then replied: “2004 with Brucey – lovely Bruce. That’s over two decades ago, and a lot of that time has been with you. It’s been a huge part of our lives, hasn’t it? Since our children were literally babes in arms and now they’re young adults and I think, genuinely we have cherished every second.”
Claudia added: “We have, we’re so lucky to have been part of this amazing show and we just want to thank the Strictly team because Strictly is the people who make it so thank you…”
Tess agreed and said: “They are the very best team in television we’ve been so lucky. And the audience as well, they’ve been so wonderful. They’ve been with us for this entire journey of 21 years and we wouldn’t have a show without them and they’ve been just so loyal and supportive.”
Alongside the video, they wrote a caption which read: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.
“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.”
They added: “We will cry when we say the last “keep dancing” but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza. Tess & Claud”.
