Max Verstappen topped practice at the Mexico Grand Prix to keep the pressure up on McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in the Formula 1 title fight.
Having sat out FP1 to hand over his upgraded Red Bull to Arvid Lindblad, the four-time F1 world champion instantly got on the pace by going fastest in second practice with a 1m17.392s – 0.153s faster than Charles Leclerc for Ferrari who topped the opening session.
With Andrea Kimi Antonelli in third for Mercedes, Norris tucked into fourth for McLaren, having also missed FP1 for rookie driver duties with Pato O’Ward in action.
But Piastri, who took part in both sessions, ended the day down in 12th place and 0.840s off of Verstappen’s outright lap time.
