Christian Horner’s F1 scandal has reportedly reignited ‘Geri’s Spice Girls rift’ after sources claimed Geri wants to take control over ‘the 30th anniversary celebrations’

Christian Horner’s F1 scandal has reportedly reignited Geri’s rumoured rift with her Spice Girls bandmates. It comes amid speculation that projects for the band’s 30th anniversary are on the horizon. Christian was abruptly relieved of his duties as head of Red Bull in July, despite having led the team to significant success. His sudden departure followed reports of internal power struggles and his being embroiled in a text scandal.

Twelve months before his departure, he was involved in a scandal in which a female employee accused him of “inappropriate, controlling behaviour”; however, he was cleared of wrongdoing following an investigation.

Geri has loyally stood by her husband; however, sources claimed Geri felt humiliated. Insiders have claimed: “Geri’s still embarrassed by all the Christian allegations, and feels she’s lost some of the power she had. She now wants to be the one who plans all the 30th anniversary celebrations.”

It comes as The Spice Girls are gearing up to celebrate their 30th anniversary and a source has claimed there has ‘always been that slight distance’ between Geri and her bandmates.

A source told The Sun: “Although it’s always Victoria who gets the reputation for being a diva, it’s actually Geri. There’s always been that slight distance between her and the rest of them, as she did leave them high and dry at the biggest point of their career during that world tour in 1998.

“Obviously, that was years and years ago, and they’ve all moved on, but the four others do have a slightly different bond. But Geri is quite selfish and will always put herself first to get what she wants, and she likes to be the one in control, making all the decisions.”

While nothing has been confirmed for the huge anniversary, there have been reports of a documentary and a possible tour.

Marking three decades since their debut single Wannabe, the group has hinted that something big is in the works. Victoria Beckham, 51, who originally shot to fame as Posh Spice in the 1990s, admitted she’s open to the group reuniting at the state-of-the-art Sphere venue in Vegas, though ruled out the idea of a full-blown tour.

Speaking on US radio station Sirius XM, she said, “It would be tempting. But could I take on a world tour? No I can’t. I have a job… How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere! I love the idea of it. I mean I don’t know if I could even still sing, I mean I was never that great!”

Melanie C has also kept the reunion hopes alive. Speaking to Radio 2, she said, “I would love that. I ask the nation to manifest that happening.”

Earlier this year, she revealed that discussions are underway – but admitted not everyone is fully on board just yet.

“Next year is a big year for us and we have to acknowledge it in some way,” she said. “So we are talking about what that’s going to look like and for me, Melanie, I know for sure, and Emma, we’d be back on stage. But sometimes other people need a little bit more convincing.”
