Wedding goals.
Joe Keery dressed up as his beloved “Stranger Things” character, Steve Harrington, to officiate his friends’ wedding in California over the weekend.
The 33-year-old actor went viral for the footage of him wearing Steve’s signature Scoops Ahoy costume as he stood under a garden arbor in front of the groom, Matt Williams, and the bride, Veronica Capaldi.
In a video on X, Keery spoke into a microphone and read from a paper in his hand as he made things official for the couple.
“And by the power invested in me by the state of California — yesterday — I now pronounce you husband and wife,” Keery said during the outdoor ceremony.
Capaldi also posted pictures on her Instagram Stories of Keery in costume during the ceremony.
On X, fans gushed over Keery’s epic wedding officiant attire.
“Only Joe Keery could make a Scoops Ahoy uniform look wedding appropriate,” one account wrote.
“this is the most steve harrington thing joe keery could possibly do how do i get joe keery to officiate my wedding next??” another fan said.
“He’s a legendary friend. I bet that ceremony was full of laughs and great quotes. An absolute icon,” a third person tweeted.
Someone else wrote, “Officiating a wedding in full scoops ahoy gear?? absolute legend behavior.”
Keery has played Steve on the hit Netflix series since its premiere in 2016. His co-stars include Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Winona Ryder and David Harbour.
The fifth and final season of the show will be released in three parts, with episodes dropping Nov. 26, Dec. 25 and Dec. 31.
During an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in January, Kerry explained how it was “emotional” filming the end of the show.
“It was a long year,” he said. “But to wrap it all up and the anticipation of working on something for so long — I mean it’s been one-third of my life, really.”
“It was emotional,” Keery continued. “We sort of got to that last day, and it was like everything really hit on that last day of shooting.”
In addition to his acting career, Keery is a musician. He is a member of the psychedelic rock band Post Animal and has also released three solo studio albums under his musical alias, Djo.
“Man, what does music mean to me? Right now, I’m making a little bit of a career out of it, so it’s like my livelihood, but it’s a lot more than that,” he said in an interview with Dazed magazine last month.
“It’s just a magical thing, where you can communicate something that words aren’t always able to,” Keery added. “You can’t really describe something in a way that a song can.
