Not all those who wander into a bar for trivia night are lost.
Hollywood legend Ian McKellen and his former “Lord of the Rings” co-star Dominic Monaghan surprised fans at the East London pub The Grapes on Monday night.
A video of the exciting visit shared to social media showed the pair mingling with patrons, laughing, and enjoying some food and drinks before competing in the establishment’s weekly trivia night.
McKellen, 86, reportedly co-owns The Grapes and stops by from time to time. However, this is the first time he is believed to have brought Monaghan, 48, along for the fun.
Even more surprising was the fact that the pair, who played Gandalf and Merry Brandybuck in the beloved Peter Jackson trilogy, won the night’s trivia competition and scored a £60 ($80) gift card.
The TikTok video of the pair’s visit also appeared to show Monaghan sharing a quick kiss with an unidentified brunette woman.
“Lord of the Rings” fans, meanwhile, rushed to the comments section to express how excited they were to see the former co-stars spending some quality time together more than 20 years after they last appeared together in 2003’s “The Return of the King.”
“I love that even after all the years since the trilogy ended, the most unlikely of pairings are still this close!” one person wrote.
“Literally one of my heroes, I wouldn’t be able to cope,” shared another, while a third commented, “Of course Gandalf won, he possesses all the wisdom of the kingdom of men.”
McKellen, who chipped a vertebra and fractured his wrist after he fell off the stage during a West End performance in June 2024, previously said that he “avoids going out” following the scary incident.
“I avoid going out because I’m nervous someone might bump into me, and I’ve been dealing with agonizing pain in my shoulders due to the jolt my body took,” he told Saga Magazine last summer.
However, the “X-Men” star recently insisted that he has no plans to retire even despite his lingering injuries and old age.
“I forget names…When you’re older, you’ve got more to remember than people who are young,” he told the BBC. “Nevertheless, it’s a nuisance when you can’t remember your best friend’s name or forget your telephone number.”
“What else would I be doing if I weren’t working?” McKellen added. “Just keep at it as long as the legs and the lungs and the mind keep working.”
As for Monaghan, he spends a lot of time with his other former “Lord of the Rings” co-stars as well.
Last month, the “Long Shadows” actor gave The Post an inside look at the Hobbit group chat he shares with Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee) and Billy Boyd (Pippin Took).
“We have different text chains. That one is just called Shire Folk, and that’s just full of Hobbits,” Monaghan shared. “Who’s the most talkative? It depends on what we’re talking about.”
“If we’re talking about SAG-related politics and issues? Sean Astin,” he continued. “If we’re talking about food and travel and cinema? Probably me or Elijah. If we’re talking about dogs and funny dog photos? Then probably Billy.”
