Later reports stated that Palaash was hospitalised due to stress and reports of the music composer cheating on Smriti surfaced. This was after his chats with a choreographer went viral on social media. Smriti, who had an important role in the Indian Women’s 2025 World Cup, will be seen returning to action in a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The series will take place from December 21, 2025, to December 30, 2025. Smriti will be playing the matches in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram.

It was on December 7, 2025, when Smriti mustered the courage to take to her social media handle to reveal that she had called off her wedding with Palaash. At one end she has returned to her training, and on the other side, her post related to calling off her marriage read:
“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”
It was on the same day that Smriti’s ex fiance, Palaash Mucchal also took to his social media handle to state that he has decided to move on from his relationship. He called the period one of the most difficult times of his life and said that he will be taking legal action against the baseless rumours being spread about him to create defamatory content. Initially, the postponement of Smriti and Palaash’s wedding had raised hopes among the fans.
