Pete Alonso’s days in New York are over, and his other half is now looking back at what was a memorable — and historic — ride.

Haley Alonso, the slugger’s wife, took to Instagram on Thursday in the wake of her husband signing a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles.

Haley posted a picture from his first big league Mets game on Opening Day 2019, saying his ear-to-ear smile, coupled with a dirty jersey, “encapsulates” his style as a ballplayer.

“Those who’ve watched him over the years know that it’s undeniable that his love for the game absolutely radiates off him,” Haley wrote in the caption. “I watched almost every game, every season like most of you. But, I was also able to see everything Pete did behind the scenes that would never be talked about, written about or shared because they weren’t done in the spotlight. As his wife I can say that Pete gave you everything he had, every single day.”

Alonso went on to win the National League Rookie of the Year in 2019, mashing a career-high 53 homers in what was the first of five All-Star seasons.

Aside from the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign, Alonso mashed at least 34 homers in each season with the Amazin’s, truly etching his name into the franchise history books this summer when he became the Mets’ all-time leader in home runs.

But Haley said she hopes her husband is remembered for more than just the back-of-the-baseball card numbers.

“The accolades he received for his play during his time there are nice and appreciated but I hope his legacy with New York is how deeply he cared and how much of himself he poured into this game, this team and this city,” she wrote. “Day in and day out.”

She said they appreciated the “heartfelt” fans and how they took to Alonso, who quickly became a fan favorite at Citi Field.

“We made lifelong friends over the years and I’m forever grateful for that. Just so grateful for all of it,” Haley wrote. “Thank you for loving Pete.”
