Babar Azam is making his debut in the BBL in Australia this season and is one of the Marquee signings of Sydney Sixers. However, he has only managed 11 runs in 2 matches so far after scoring 2 vs Perth Scorchers in the last match.
The Pakistan star batter has scored 11538 runs in T20 cricket in his career including record 4429 runs in T20I cricket. He has 11 hundreds and 95 fifties to his name in 329 T20 matches.
Babar’s other teammates haven’t done much better either in the BBL 2025-26 season. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi was taken off after just 2.3 over while giving away 43 runs in his first match for Brisbane Heat while Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan had also managed single figure score.
Meanwhile, Wood, who played a couple of matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 season, will be returning to the Indian Premier League after missing out this year. The 30-year-old pacer from Lancashire has claimed 210 wickets in 200 T20 matches till date at an average of 25.9.
Apart from Babar, Wood dismissed Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards for 32 off 21 balls and Ben Dwarshuis for 14. Edwards was signed up by Kavya Maran’s Sunrises Hyderabad for Rs 3 crore at the IPL 2026 player auction while Dwarshuis was acquired for Rs 4.4 crore by Preity Zinta’s Punjab Kings.
Australian wicketkeeper Josh Phillipe top-scored with 46 off 28 balls with 1 six and 8 fours to give some respectability to the total. Babar Azam’s Pakistan teammate Hasan Ali went wicketless for Adelaide Strikes conceding 36 runs in 4 overs.
