Dick Van Dyke’s wife, Arlene Silver, is afraid to leave her house because of an alleged stalker.
The 54-year-old told her Instagram followers in a video shared Tuesday that she skipped yoga that morning because of “someone kind of stalking me around Malibu.”
“I don’t feel comfortable even going out,” Silver said, revealing that the person has been stalking her “for a couple of months.”
“I go to yoga for my mental health and just to move my body, and there’s some guy, just, you know, he’s been hanging around all the Dick Van Dyke stuff, and I said something to him yesterday, and hopefully….it’s hard to explain,” Silver said. “I don’t wanna give him any attention.”
The make-up artist continued, “But it sucks because it’s the one hour I leave to do something for myself. So hopefully he’ll go away, or else I’m going to have to have a bodyguard escort me to my yoga class.”
Silver revealed that her famous husband, who just turned 100, wants to get involved.
“People are crazy. Dick was like, ‘I’m going to go over there with you.’ I go, ‘Well, that’s probably want he wants, to start with, so I don’t think that’s going to help,’” she said.
Silver even confronted her stalker during one of their recent encounters.
“I said something to him yesterday. He acted like, ‘What?’ Dude you know what you’re doing. Don’t mess with me,” she stated. “How do you relax when you’re in yoga class and you know this guy could just walk into the class?”
Later in the video, Silver said that she wants to tell the police about the stalking and plans to stay inside her gated community until she feels safe again.
“He’s a creep and he’s doing things that are very weird. This behavior is very disturbing. I don’t feel comfortable about it. Neither does Dick,” she explained.
“My yoga class is the one hour I leave Dick,” Silver added. “I don’t have anybody here. I live in Malibu. It’s an isolated place. I’m with Dick by myself a lot. I’m his sole caretaker. This is one hour I go do the yoga and there’s someone at the house [with Dick].”
In the same video, Silver opened up about Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner’ tragic deaths, noting that Van Dyke has been friends with the “When Harry Met Sally” director for almost his entire life.
“I have so many messages from Dick’s birthday, it’s going to take me weeks to get over all of them, and Michele and Rob’s are in those messages,” Silver shared.
Silver and Van Dyke “didn’t sleep” after hearing about the Reiners’ murders, which allegedly occurred at the hands of their son Nick.
“This is just unbelievable … we feel terrible for his family. His wonderful family,” she said.
