Katie Price’s family are worried about the former model turned reality star due to her ongoing weight loss, which she has spoken openly about and the root cause of it
Katie Price’s concerned family have engaged in honest talks about her well-being and weight loss. It comes after the former model turned reality star looked unsteady on her feet while stepping out with friends on Monday night.
The 47-year-old stepped out at a launch event for The Only Way Is Essex star Yasmin Oukhellou’s latest business venture in Hertfordshire earlier this week. But after staying for just 20 minutes, Katie was seen exiting the party with two friends.
But Katie, who has been extremely open about her weight issues in recent years, appeared frail as she wore a pair of brown see-through leggings, which she rocked with a matching top. Her tattooed mid-riff took centre stage as she made her way home from the event while wearing a pair of heeled sandals and oversized sunglasses.
Now, a source close to Katie has expressed their concern over her weight loss and admits that the family have “honest” conversations with her about the star’s well-being. Speaking to the Mirror, a source said: “They do share their concerns with Kate and have open, honest conversations with her about how she’s feeling – including her mental health and her weight loss.
“Those conversations come from a place of love, care and support, and they remain private within the family. What people too often forget is just how much Kate has been through and how much she has already overcome. Her well-being is, and always will be, the priority, and it’s something she is actively working on.”
Responding to recent coverage from alleged friends of Kate who said that her weight loss was “absolutely devastating” and was extremely severe, our source added: “It was quite frankly completely unnecessary.
“It was cruel, hurtful and deeply insensitive, and it reduced a very real, very personal journey into a sensationalised narrative. There was no consideration for the impact those words might have, not just on Kate, but on her family too.”
In the past, Katie has been extremely open about the pain she has endured over the years, including her mental health, post-traumatic stress disorder, body dysmorphia and depression. Speaking previously, the star said: “When I was in the Priory, my therapist said: ‘Kate, we’ve never known anyone to have so many traumatic events happen to them.’ And I’m still here, coping.”
She has also been diagnosed with C-PTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder), which she opened up about in her Channel 4 documentary, Katie Price: Trauma and Me. But while the star has faced several hurdles in her life, she has since found herself coming out on top and regularly engages with therapy to help process her thoughts.
Her weight loss, though, she says, could be down to medical issues and her desire to want to lose weight after gruelling rounds of IVF. Speaking last month, she explained it could be down to a past health scare. “The reason I’m going to the doctors is because I keep losing weight and I don’t know why. So that’s that,” she told fans on social media.
She explained that it could be linked to a previous cancer scare after she was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer, known as leiomyosarcoma, in her finger, while she was pregnant with her eldest son, Harvey.
Elsewhere, on Rob Moore’s Disruptor’s podcast, she explained: “Yes, I’ve lost weight. Yes, that’s what I’ve wanted to do, I’ve wanted to lose weight.” She added: “The past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I’d never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair.
“And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight. So yeah, I did put on weight, and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable, and it wasn’t me. Now I’ve gone back, now the IVF that’s all come out, and I’m more active because I could do more because of my feet, and I’m horse riding again, then naturally, I’m going back athletic again.”
