According to reports from Page Six and People, Tana Mongeau has been involved in several controversies due to her fearless and sometimes reckless approach. It includes her disastrous 2018 creator festival, TanaCon, which she called “the Fyre Festival of YouTube,” making her one of the most controversial internet personalities. At the same time, her use of racial slurs and bizarre business practices made equal amounts of headlines. Back in 2019, Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau shocked the internet world when they announced their engagement after dating for two months. The announcement came during Tana’s 21st birthday celebrations and quickly became one of the most bizarre internet weddings ever. The duo had organised a massive Las Vegas ceremony for themselves, complete with designer outfits, expensive theatrics, reality TV cameras, and a livestream where fans paid to watch their wedding.

Needless to say, the internet explained, and millions of users turned to watch the ceremony. Simultaneously, their photos flooded social media. Similar to any other wedding ceremony, Jake and Tana exchanged vows, kissed in front of the cameras, and presented themselves as husband and wife. However, within minutes, netizens could sense something was amiss. Page Six and Entertainment Tonight reported that they did not file for an official marriage license. At the same time, their wedding officiant reportedly lacked legal credentials. Within days, Tana herself admitted on her MTV reality show, Tana Turns 21, that the wedding was not legally binding and they had done it for “fun and content.” She revealed that they never intended to get married for real. Sharing her approach to the event, she said:

“I have a lot of love for him, but it’s something fun and light-hearted … obviously done for content.”

Later, Jake himself confirmed this and told outlets like Entertainment Tonight that the wedding spectacle was merely for the sake of their over-the-top entertainment. According to People, Jake even joked that everything was fake. In fact, some outlets even spotted them and saw them leave in opposite directions after their wedding ceremony was over. They parted ways in early 2020, confirming that nothing was ever real. In his words:
